Tack: The New Memory Book

A photo can show what happened. Tack aims to help you remember why it mattered.

The Tom Glander Journal · October 2026

Think about the last time you tried to find something you knew you had saved. Maybe it was a photo, a note, a receipt, a link, or a document. You remembered the story. You just didn't remember where the thing lived.

That is the problem behind Tack.

Tom didn't want another complicated filing cabinet. He wanted a place where different kinds of memories and useful information could live together—and be found again when his brain only had half a clue.

“Your brain makes associations. Tack should make associations retrievable.”

More than a folder

Tack Home is a Mac application for keeping notes, pictures, videos, files, links, and other pieces of life in one searchable space. A screenshot with words can be found by those words. A document can sit near the other things that explain it.

The promise is not to replace every app on your computer. It is to keep the parts of a story together, so they are easier to revisit.

Tom calls it the new memory book. Photos preserve moments. Tack preserves context.

Then came the pocket

Good ideas don't wait until you are home at your desk. Tack Mobile was created to capture notes, photos, files, and activities on an iPhone. It saves on the phone first, even when there is no connection. Later, iCloud can carry the captures to Tack Home on the Mac.

An Activity is especially useful for a day that has many pieces. Instead of ending up with a photo here and a note there, those pieces can become one thing in Tack Home.

Built to be used

Tom uses Tack himself. He keeps development lessons, product ideas, screenshots, and milestones in it. He even saved the moment Tack Mobile went to Apple for review.

That is the point. If the creator trusts the tool enough to depend on it, every missed detail becomes a reason to make it better.

A home, not a maze

The plan is simple: Tack Mobile stays free. Tack Home stays free. A possible Tack Pro may someday add deeper tools for people who need them.

For everyone else, the promise is already enough: catch a thought, keep its story, and find it again.
